Winter Weather

Winter weather came in roaring over winter break, and thanks to our wonderful custodian Bobby and district facilities, our school has managed the heavy amounts of snow. The sidewalks & playground blacktop are clear, but there are still many areas with large piles of snow. Please be patient with us as we navigate heavy traffic with limited space until snow has dissipated.

Also, please be sure to send your students to school prepared to be outside at recess. Winter coats, waterproof gloves and a hat are all a good idea. It can also be a helpful to keep an extra set of clothing in their backpack in case the ones they are wearing get wet.

Crosswalk Fun

We’d like to thank Barry, our crossing guard on 1700 East, for bringing us some extra joy leading into the winter break by dressing up! He, and our other crossing guards, are wonderful and we appreciate their efforts, especially in this cold weather!

Kindergarten Pre-Registration

Now that 2023 has arrived we can start looking forward to our incoming kindergarten students. The week of January 3rd current students at Sunrise will be bringing home a yellow pre-registration paper for any kindergarten age students for the 2023-24 school year. Please note children turning five on or before September 1, 2023 are eligible. (This age requirement is a state law and cannot be waived). If you have a child at home that fits that requirement, please fill out this pre-registration form and send it back to the office. THIS IS NOT REGISTRATION, but it is a way for us to see how many incoming students we have as well as a way for us to communicate with you when registration begins. If you have a friend/neighbor who doesn’t have current students but will need a form, please have them contact the office. Thanks!

Safety Reminder

With the tall piles of snow in the parking lots and surrounding streets of the school, please be extra vigilant, drive slowly and watch for students in parking lots, road areas and around the school.

RAD Kids

RADKIDS is back at Sunrise!!!  We are super excited to offer RADKIDS as an afterschool program at Sunrise for 8-11 year olds starting Thurs, Jan 19 – Thurs, Mar 16, 2023.  For those of you who don’t know, RADKIDS is a self-empowerment, self-defense program which teaches students that no one has the right to hurt them and how to protect themselves from all types of danger, including bullying and physical abduction. Sunrise has proudly supported this program for our Eagles for over 10 years. Please see the attached flyer for more information on exact dates and how to register!  We hope to see you there!!
