  • Approve November Minutes
    • Minutes were approved
  • Screen Time by Grade Level Response
    • SCC had asked Margaret at a previous meeting how much time was spent daily on computer screens.  Below are responses by grade level.
      • K – Our students use iPads for reading and math programs.
      • 1st – Our students use technology for reading and math programs.
      • 2nd – Our students use technology for paid programs, daily math assessments, weekly reading assessments and other ELA or Math lessons (Nearpod, Quizziz, Canvas, etc.) as needed.
      • 3rd – Our students use the computers for their math assignments and math facts practice. They use them for their small group independent practice as well as writing.
      • 4th – Our students are on their computers for their math fact practice and Practice Buddies in the morning. They are on them in the afternoon for Reading Plus lessons, drafting writing, and sometimes for science. They are on their chromebooks approximately 3 hours a day, give or take depending on the day’s tasks.
      • 5th – Our students are on their chromebooks throughout the day, however teachers are simultaneously teaching live lessons while students input their answers (Canvas has replaced approximately half of our paper assignments). Success criteria and learning intentions are always posted on canvas for students to reference.
    • This lead to SCC having the discussion about what students do when they are finished with their work.
    • Ms. Larsen – 2nd grade teacher – clarified that if teacher does use technology as an earlier finisher task – teachers are purposeful in what they allow their students to do.
    • There was discussion about pros of learning Canvas now and the impact technology has on fine motors skills and spelling.
  • Winter CBM Data
    • Margaret presented winter CBM data which was about 95% complete.
