Memory Books Last Call

If you are interested in purchasing one of our 2022-23 school memory books, you’ll need to see the attached flyer and go to link provided to purchase. These are only $8.50 and are so fun! Orders must be in by April 21st in order to receive it by the end of the school year.

Book Blitz Winners

On Wednesday April 12th our book blitz team went on to the Canyons District competition and they brought home the 1st place prize! Congratulations to the Word Ninja’s! Excellent job on representing your school and out PTA book blitz program!

And a HUGE thank you to the MANY volunteers that helped make this program a success.

Teachers Retiring

Pat Ward (3rd Grade) and Carolyn Brooks (4th Grade) are retiring this year, after many years of dedicated service as Sunrise teachers! As part of their retirement gift from the school, we are collecting letters from their current and past students and families to put together a book for each of them! Letters should be handwritten or typed out and printed, and can be turned in to the front office. Letters must be submitted by Friday May 12th. Please be sure that your submissions are clearly labeled with the teacher’s name!

We are also having an open house and all are welcome to come! Invitation is attached to this newsletter.

Learning Environment Forms

Parents who would like to offer input on class placement for the 2023-24 school year can choose to fill out a Learning Environment form. This form is attached to the newsletter and also available at the school office. They must be turned in no later than Wednesday May 10th.

Café Rio Spirit Night

On Thursday April 20th make a plan to have dinner at Café Rio at 9320 S Village Shop Drive! Bring the voucher, attached to this email, and your order will be counted toward our fundraiser! 20% of the pretax proceeds throughout the event will be donated to Sunrise! So, enjoy some delicious food while donating to your school! 😉

Fun Run Information

Please mark your calendars and plan on bringing the whole family to our annual PTA Fundraiser on April 27th from 5:30-7:30pm at Sunrise Elementary! This fun family event is themed “Fun in the Sun Run” and will feature a fun run, silent auction, music, photo ops with our eagle mascot Soarin, and pizza combo meals for dinner. Our goal this year is to raise $18,000. 100% of proceeds are put directly back into running PTA programs for our students and teachers because we do not use a 3rd party vendor to run our fundraiser, so we invite you to give generously. Classes can earn an extra recess or a class party by bringing in donations April 24-April 28. Additionally, every student who participates in the fun run will receive a free popsicle!  We are still accepting silent auction donations until April 21st (reach out to sunrisefunrun@gmail.com). Watch for more information and donation envelopes coming home with students on April 20th. Thank you for your support!

Life Skill Winners

The following students were announced on Friday April 14th as our life skill winners for the month of March. Each of these students were nominated by their teacher for exhibiting the skill of service by seeking opportunities to help when assistance is needed and act without expecting compensation or recognition. Congratulations goes to: Blair J., Zarina A., Emma S., Clyde A., Lucy C., Rexton W., Jaxon M., Scarlett R., Charlotte M., Charleigh M., Jack S., Duncan J., Annie D., Max K., Aurora H., Nash C., Evan I., Reid T., Jensen A., Ollie S., Ibrahim K., Eliza C., Alex J., Levi H., Maria D., Hyrum G. and Stella B. Excellent job eagles! Keep up the great work!

Safety Reminder

Making a plan and keeping the plan is always a good idea. Whether that is waiting for their ride in the pick-up lane, meeting other students by the flagpole and walking home or riding a bike/scooter straight home. Having a plan that you and your student can rely on each day is a safety measure that is good for you BOTH. As a parent, you will know when to expect them home each day or know exactly where they are until you arrive. As a student, they know who is picking them up/who they go with and where to expect you to arrive.

We encourage students to follow their everyday plan and to not deviate from that to go with friends, play on the playground etc. If you do not already have an everyday plan, we would highly recommend doing that and to stick to it! Let’s keep all of our eagles safe!
