Dear Sunrise Community:
I am honored to serve as your next Principal. Joining the community in this role is homecoming of sorts as Sunrise Elementary is not far from where I live. In as much, I am fully aware of how amazing this community is and how profound Sunrise’s academic excellence has been over the years. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that has already been laid and getting to know all of our community stakeholders. While I will miss being an East Sandy Mustang I could not be more excited to start my journey as an Eagle.
More about Dr. Wilkinson:
Most recently Dr. Wilkinson has spent the past four years as the Principal of East Sandy Elementary. Prior to that, Dr. Wilkinson was a Vice Principal at East Midvale Elementary school. That coming on the heels of serving as an educator in Granite School District and as a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) director at a private school in Indianapolis, IN. Having spent the past sixteen years, a vast majority of which in public education, dedicating herself to the children in our communities, Dr. Wilkinson has developed a deep love for helping children succeed. Nothing gives her more pride than watching her students flourish as they move through our education system.
Dr. Wilkinson is a proud Utah native. She graduated with a B.S in Education from Utah State University. She later attained several graduate degrees including a M.Ed in Education with an emphasis in mathematics from Southern Utah University, a M.Ed in Education, Leadership and Policy and a Ph.D. in Education, Culture and Society both from the University of Utah.
Dr. Wilkinson enjoy spending time with her family especially her young daughter Mya and her husband Mandeep. She is an avid runner and enjoys playing tennis, golf and basketball with her family. She also enjoys spending time cooking and laughing with her very large extended family both near and far.
