At last weeks school community council meeting the temperature for our indoor days was discussed. The temperature for our students to be indoors so far this year has been 24 degree’s or lower, which is a decision that our council makes at the beginning of each school year. The stretch of cold days and several indoor recesses caused them to review the temperature again. The board has decided that they are going to do a 3 week trial period changing the temperature to 21 degrees. They have asked us to track data of both temperatures during this timeframe to see the differences of the students having access to outdoor recess. They will review the data at the February 19th meeting and make a final decision. We encourage parents who have input to attend the next meeting or email Andee Crismon (Andrea.crismon@canyonsdistrict.org) with their comments so they can be shared with board members.
With that said, on Monday January 27th we will be changing our outdoor “feels like” temperature for recess down to 21 degrees. Please be sure to send your students dressed for the weather and prepared to play outdoors.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
