Nicole Hudson-Woodland
Hello, Sunrise Families!  My name is Nicole Woodland and I am asking you to consider me for the Sunrise School Community Council.

I grew up in the home that we now live in next door to Sunrise.   I walked to Sunrise every day, kindergarten through 6th grade.  During my 5th grade year, my mother succumbed to her 7 year-long battle with cancer.  At ten years old, I suddenly found myself at home alone with my Clint Eastwood-style old-school dad.  He and I immediately went into survival mode trying to navigate everyday life, school, friends, puberty, etc.  Together, we learned to cook and clean, do laundry and grocery shop, pay bills, and schedule appointments…all the things my mother did.  We learned how to talk to each other and to listen to each other.  We learned how to work as a team, parent, and child together.

Fast forward many years (I am an old mamma)…

After art school and working in the corporate world of advertising, I started my own freelance creative services business.  20 years later, with my best friend for a husband and two singularly perfect wee dudes, I am freelance Marketing and Creative Director for a number of companies from Utah to Belgium.

Professionally, I balance budgets, manage expectations, and juggle multiple projects for my clients on a daily basis.  I have served on the board of Habitat for Humanity, Community Health Charities, on the Utah Symphony Guild, and am an active member of The Trades House of Glasgow in Scotland (we are Scottish through and through).

As a family, we love all things outdoors.  Our boys love to fish, hike, rock climb, and explore the world around us.  We work hard and play harder.  We believe in old-fashioned manners.  Pleases, thank you’s, and excuse me’s make up the foundation of respect that we continually strive to instill in our kids.

All of this about me and us as a family is to convey how sincere I am about my intentions.  My career, interests, and life experiences have afforded me a level of knowledge, skill, understanding, and judgement that I feel would benefit this council.  But most importantly, because of my father, I believe deeply in the natural rights and duty of parents to the care, custody, and stewardship of our children through all aspects of their lives.  If given the opportunity to serve on this council, I promise you my full commitment to advocating and protecting your parental rights wherever possible.

Hillary Hewitt
My name is Hillary Hewitt. I’m the parent of a 3rd grader and a new kindergartner at Sunrise!  I work as the Director of Client Services  for a local company that helps female entrepreneurs develop, and manufacture their products, and I love to spend time with my family.

I’m interested in serving on SCC because I enjoy being involved with the teachers and faculty as well as other parents to work towards meeting the educational goals of the school and better serve the community.

I had the opportunity to serve as the SCC chair at Alta View Elementary  and would love the opportunity to serve the Sunrise students and families.

Lyndsi Seltz
My name is Lyndsi Seltz and I am the parent of a 1st grader at Sunrise Elementary. I have played an active role in volunteering and supporting the school my child has attended since she was in preschool. I enjoy being able to work with other parents and school personnel to ensure that our school has everything it needs to provide a high quality education for our children. I have served on the HSA and fundraising committee at my daughter’s previous school. I want to join the SCC to promote an inclusive and safe school community that serves the needs of all students.
