Sunrise Elementary School Kindergarten Information
Kindergarten Requirements:
IN ORDER TO ENROLL AT SUNRISE:
1.Your child must turn five years old before September 1st of the enrolling year and live within our school boundary area. You can find the Canyons District school boundary information by going to the following link. www.canyonsdistrict.org/schools/
All of our kindergarten classes are full day classes.
2.Parent/Guardian must provide the following for their enrolling student:
- An official birth certificate
- An immunization record or Utah exemption form
- Proof of residency (With address, parent name, & current date)
The online application will ask you to upload these documents, so be sure to have them ready.
3.Enrollment applications are completed online at the Canyons District website. You can access the application by using this link: https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/depts/admissions/kinder/
- If you have another student already attending in Canyons School District, choose the “New Student Enrollment” option. This will link your new kindergarten student with your existing Skyward family access account.
- If you are new to our district, click on the “Temporary account for new student enrollment” option and fill out the required information.
PROCESSING ENROLLMENT:
Once you have submitted your enrollment applications, with birth certificate, immunizations, and proof of residency attached, the application is sent over to the school office staff to be processed. If documents are missing, it will delay it getting processed until they have been received.
Processing of kindergarten applications begins in January of the enrolling school year.
HALF-DAY KINDERGARTEN INTENTION:
Parents/families who would prefer a shorter day accommodation, please email the school principal by February 27, 2026 to declare your interest. It is a requirement to meet with the principal in advance to go over scheduling and to sign the “Half-Day Kindergarten Request” paperwork.
IN PERSON KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION:
Kindergarten orientation will be held on April 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
BOUNDARY PERMIT APPLICATIONS:
If you have applied for an out of boundary permit to attend our school, we prefer you wait to enroll until you’ve received notification of your permit status. You will receive notification via email if it has been accepted, deny/waitlisted, or denied.
This 2026-27 school year permit requests will not be addressed until AFTER the February 6, 2026 school board meeting.
Enrollment applications will not be processed for out-of-boundary students unless they have been approved for a permit.
