Temperature moving to 21 degrees
Voted in January to lower the temperature to 21.
Collected data for 21 or below vs 24 temperature
36 days tracked, 7 days we could go out since dropping the temp, 19 days we were inside.
Opened discussion up to community:
Having kids go outside has a positive impact on physical, mental, and emotional health
there’s no place for kids to be inside during indoor recess
irritability increases behaviors are unmanageable and learning is not happening
6 teachers vs 3 recess aides, can’t manage kids in 3rd grade.
Teachers are now feeling like they have to eat lunch in their classrooms
classrooms are being destroyed because expectations are not being met
possibly opening up volunteers to come to watch kids during indoor recess
wanting to find spaces where kids could go
January and February are the months that tend to be colder.
kids are cheering when it gets called an outdoor recess day.
the data does show a significant change in indoor vs outdoor
noticed some misconceptions about the complaints
Voting to maintain 7 yay 0 no
Proposed TSSP & land Trust Goals
